Another Big Day Out...

We woke reasonably early this morning. Geoff and Chalor had warned us that there would be a procession through the village for the young boy who was entering the monk hood.
They were right. At about 7am there was a band that led the procession and then the car that carried the boy and his family...then the fifty billion family and friends that followed after that.
This isn't a great photo but it is the family car.

After the excitement of the morning, we had a slow start. We needed to wait for Chalor's daughter Si so that she could look after the shop. Si is Chalor's 21 year old daughter who is Arnut's mum. She works as a shift manager at the Seven Eleven but also helps out in the shop.

When all was sorted we headed out. First stop Wat Chaiwattanaram, another old ruin temple. This temple was built by King Prasatthong on the land belonging to his mother. According to the ancient records the temple layout was clearly planned to symbolise Buddhist cosmology.

Another beautiful historic site in Ayutthaya. I found out today that in 1991 the historic city of Ayutthaya was placed on the World Heritage List. Don't laugh at me if you knew that!

We then headed to the Ayutthaya Floating Market. So many people....

The boys had a Fish Foot Spa. Brayden has been asking for one the whole time we have been here...not sure how he knows about it.

The setting of the market was gorgeous. The shops were around the outside with a little show area in the centre. They did a reenactment of Thai history. We had lunch there too. In had a really yummy Pad Thai, Brayden had spring rolls and chicken satay sticks and Jason had some Thai dish (I can't remember what it is called), it is a bit like an omelette with muscles in it. Apparently Chalor is going to teach him to make it tomorrow.

After the floating market we headed to Swensens (Ice creamery) at the Home Pro Centre for a yummy treat. Just for old times sake Brayden had the Mr. San Francisco, as he did in Phuket 4 years ago!!!
